Description

Christina von Ditfurth was born in 1943 in Styria. She grew up surrounded by snow in the mountains of Salzburg. In 1960, at the age of seventeen, she became a member of the Austrian national ski team. For seven years she belonged to the first generation of professional top athletes. Drama and fun were everyday occurrences in the international ski circus. As an insider, she dissected the heart of a ski racer, chatted about ski history, and explored the psyche. At twenty-three, too old for racing, she went to Australia as a ski instructor and traveled the world. This is how she came to Japan, learned Japanese, and became Marketing Manager for Tyrolia ski bindings. In 1985, she became self-employed and began a career, still ongoing today, focused on Japan. She described her unique experiences with a great deal of humor.
